In the largest region of the country, the former Karaganda foundry is being raised almost from its knees, which, with the arrival of new investors, was renamed into the association of foundries of Qaz Carbon LLP, Kazakhstan Today reports.
A large-scale modernization of the plant is currently underway. As a result, a semi-coke oven was put into operation for the first time in history. The plant is ready to produce 36 thousand tons of semi-coke annually. In 2020, the second furnace will be put into operation, and the production capacity will be 72 thousand tons, and the total investment will be 140 million tenge, the press service of the administration of the Karaganda region reported.
The industrial enterprise can already be called unique. Energy efficient and environmentally friendly developments of the latest generation are being introduced here. The entire process is automated, making the plant cost effective.
In particular, the gases emitted are burned in the boiler and used for the boiler-internal temperature. Thus, when the boiler is unloaded, only pure steam is released into the atmosphere.
Today we are taking practical measures to implement the instructions of the head of state to increase labor productivity, transfer new technologies by attracting private investment, including foreign ones. In production, we use 100% domestic raw materials. In general, the Karaganda region is one of the largest raw material bases in Kazakhstan, it has rich reserves, which contributes to the production of a high-quality product, ”said Yerlan Nigmatulin, a shareholder of “Qaz Carbon” LLP.
Coal semi-coke is used for the smelting of pig iron in the chemical and ferroalloy industries. Many domestic metallurgical enterprises buy it from other countries, as there is a shortage of this product on the local market.
Having analyzed the semi-coke stone market, we came to the conclusion that there is a shortage of this product in Kazakhstan. At present, all advanced industrial countries, using modern technologies, have switched to the deep processing of simple coal to obtain products with higher added value. Kazakhstan has great potential for the development of this direction. When our plant reaches its design capacity, it will be able to meet the demand of the domestic market by 100% and go out for export, “said David Kemertelidze, shareholder of Qaz Carbon LLP.
With help of innovative technologies, as well as automation of processes, with the launch of this production, 50 new jobs have been created at the enterprise.
